The end of HoL (sort of)

Posted: July 19, 2011 in Uncategorized

Phew.  We are now at the end of the House of  Leaves and if you asked me what this book was about or why the house did the things it did, I still wouldn’t be able to tell you.  In these pages of  House of Leaves it starts off with Karen having individual conversations with many people like scholars, scientists, writers, and her therapist.  The Navidson record tells how the house has had a different effect on each of the characters who have interacted with it. Of course, Holloway committed suicide, Tom went back to being a junkie, Karen left with the children, and Navidson has become completely out of it.  Then, Navidson and Dr. Mel O’Geery observe some different types of rock samples of many different elements with capital letters written all over them.  They actually put this in the book.  I don’t know if I am supposed to read this or how I’m supposed to interpret this.  We also get to the part where Navidson begins to write letters to Karen concerning the house and telling her to sell it, but mostly how he feels about her and trying to patch up their relationship.
